Frequently asked questions

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Any Apprentice/Trainee who is undertaking training in any of the eligible vocations (click here to view the Elgibility Schedule) or who works within the building and construction industry is deemed eligible to apply for a CITB ID.

WHO DO THE INCENTIVES GET PAID TO?

The On-Job and Completions funding incentives are awarded to the Employer.  Apprentices/Trainees are entitled to receive subsidies on their up-front training costs (Tuition fees) direct from their Registered Training Organisation (RTO).  The Tuition Funding Incentive is a payment of up to $1,600 over the the four year Apprenticeship (with a maximum payment cap of $800 in the first year of the Apprenticeship).

HOW TO CLAIM TUITION FUNDING

When an Apprentice/Trainee enrolls in training in an approved Vocational Training Program (click here to view all qualifications) with a CITB approved RTO (click here to view the list of all RTOs who provide the Tuition Incentives), at the point of payment of the course fees, the RTO will pass the subsidy directly onto the student (the Apprentice/Trainee).  The RTO is the only one able to claim these amounts back from the CITB.

Tuition fees are deemed as course fees.  Text books, associated materials and course fees outside of the Contract of Training are not claimable.  Please refer also to the Apprentice Information Page for further details.

HOW DO I LOCATE AN EMPLOYER?

There are Group Schemes available click here to view the complete list of CITB approved Group Training Organisations, who will organise the employment placement together with the associated paperwork.
