This option suits employers who are fairly sure that they require a person for at least the 4 years of the apprenticeship and who are able to complete the paperwork associated with having an employee.

As an employer of a full time Apprentice, you are entitled to generous funding. The CITB provides up to $14,400 over the four years of the Apprentice's Contract of Training (COT). $3,600 is paid yearly, at the end of each year of the Apprentice's COT. This amount is compiled of $1,800 for completing a year of their apprenticeship (Completions Funding) and $1,800 for invaluable skill-set education, together with the upkeep of an on-job training diary (On-Job Skills Funding). This ensures their on-the-job skills are kept up to date and in line with their formal training targets for completion.

Hire an Apprentice through a Group Training Organisation (GTO)
Hiring an Apprentice through a GTO may suit a small business who cannot commit to providing 4 years of employment and who also wishes to minimise their paperwork.
The GTO is the legal employer of the Apprentice and ensures that their pay, superannuation, Workcover, holidays and training is all taken care of. The GTO leases the Apprentice out to host employers who pay a once a month fee to cover all of the costs.
