What are the industry sector allocations?

Sector allocations are used to describe different parts of the construction industry. Funding for training is allocated according to industry sectors.

Housing
The housing sector carries out building or construction work related to a building that has cooking and bathing facilities and is intended to be used for long term residential purposes.
 
Housing work includes any building or construction work on houses, townhouses, units, apartments, retirement villages.
 
Please note: Hostels, holiday accommodation and motels are not included in the housing sector.
 
Commercial
The commercial sector carries out building or construction work relating to a rigid, fixed and permanent structure with a roof, other than housing, that is for the shelter or use of people, plants, machinery, goods or livestock.
 
Commercial work includes any building or construction work on manufacturing, farming, retail or office buildings and temporary accommodation. Commercial projects are divided into three types:
 
Commercial Industrial - building or construction work related to manufacturing or logistics, including farming, warehouse, transport depot, self storage and aviation buildings.
 
Commercial Retail - building or construction work related to the sale of goods; including shopping centre, restaurant, petrol station, hotel, motel, hostel car park, entertainment and recreation buildings.
 
Commercial Other - building or construction work related to all other types of buildings that are not included in commercial industrial or commercial retail, such as office, healthcare, cultural, educational, library and government buildings.
 
Civil
The civil sector carries out building or construction work that is not included in the housing or commercial sectors.
 
Civil work includes all unroofed construction, demolition, subdivision, road / rail works, and utilities works such as pipe and cable laying.
