AM I ELIGIBLE?
- Do you live in SA?
- Are you directly employed by an organisation which performs at least 80% construction work (as defined in Schedule 1 of the Act within SA)
- And/or the nature of your occupation is building and construction - ie Carpenter/Joiner, General Builder etc.
Please note: We do NOT fund the mining industry.
DOES IT COST ANYTHING TO JOIN?
No, it is free to those who meet the Eligibility criteria above.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Once you have been issued with a CITB ID Number you are then able to receive training at the discounted rate. However you must use one of our approved Training Providers to receive the discount. Search for a Course here.
Please note that you MUST provide your CITB Training Passport Number at the point of payment to your Training Provider. The training subsidy cannot be applied retrospectively. If you don't have a valid ID Number at the time of training, you will pay full price. The discount will not be provided after the training has occurred.
HOW DO I JOIN?
Click on Apply for a CITB ID and fill in all the relevant fields. If your details line up with our approval system (detailed above) you will be issued with a temporary card which you can print off and provide to any one of the approved Registered Training Organisations, to receive your subsidised training. Your actual card will take approximately 4-6 weeks to arrive in the post. Please note that when you apply for your CITB ID Card, you will need your valid Drivers Licence, ABN and/or Trade Licence Numbers to hand.
WHAT IF MY APPLICATION WAS NOT APPROVED IMMEDIATELY?
Once your application has gone through our approval process you will receive an SMS to your nominated mobile phone number, containing your ID Number within 2-3 working days. If your application is pending, you will receive letter either requesting the further information that is required to deem eligibilitty, or notification that your application was not successful.
DOES THE ID NUMBER EXPIRE?
Yes. ID Numbers currently expire every three years from the approval date. The expiry date is noted on your ID Card. Please note we will send you a renewal notice three months before your ID expires.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY ID NUMBER HAS ALREADY EXPIRED?
You will need to update your details by clicking on Renew Your CITB ID Card. This application is not automatically approved, and still requires the approval process. Once your ID has been approved your ID number will stay the same.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY ID CARD?
Your ID Card will be sent to your postal address within 4-6 weeks from your approval date. If you have not received it by then please give us a call.
WHAT IF MY DETAILS HAVE CHANGED?
You will need to update your details by clicking on Renew Your CITB ID Card. If your ID Card has not yet expired this will not change your expiry date and you will not be issued with a new card.
WHAT IF I’M NOT APPROVED?
You will need to provide written evidence supporting the fact that either the Organisation you work for substantially performs building and construction work as defined in Schedule 1 of the Act within SA or that the majority of the work you do can be deemed as building and construction.
